Coming Attractions this weekend

There are actually a lot of dog related events on this weekend that we’re really looking forward to. These are the three that I know about. Let me know if there are any others I’ve missed.

Cesar Millan

Saturday, November 26, 2011, 7pm
Adelaide Entertainment Centre

Cesar Millan is live at the Adelaide Entertainment Center this Saturday night as part of his Australian and New Zealand tour. There are still some tickets available through Ticketek.

I do have to point out though, that you can not take your dog to the show (it’s a rip, I know). There are lots of warnings about this on the Ticketek site, as well as on Cesar’s own website, so it seems like a lot of people have tried this before.

But even without our dogs, I know that ourselves, the folk from Dogcity Daycare and Griselda from Doggy Bliss will be going along.

AWL By your side Family Fun Day 2011

Sunday, November 27, 2011, 9am – 1pm
Wigley Reserve, Glenelg

The Animal Welfare League’s annual event, with stalls, a beach walk, demos, and training tips.

There will also be a Guinness World Record Attempt. AWL are trying to arrange the ‘largest reunion of AWL adopted pets’. Considering that the AWL has rescued and re-homed thousands of animals over the years I’m eager to see how many show up on Sunday.

GAPSA Open Day and Family Picnic

Sunday, November 27, 2011, 11am – 4pm
Greyhound Racing SA, Angle Rd, Angle Park

Also on Sunday is the Greyhound Adoption Program’s open day at Angle Park. This is a family orientated event, with bouncy castles, face painting, balloon artists, etc. There are also doggy-centric attractions, such as dog washing, dog portraits and also doggy massages being performed by Griselda from Doggy Bliss.

Picnic in the park

Sunday, November 27, 2011, 10am
Pinky Flat, Adelaide

And yet another one on Sunday, the annual Feast Festival Picnic in the Park. While this isn’t strictly dog-centric, it is dog friendly and they do hold a Feast Dog Show every year. Plenty of stalls and entertainment, so if you’re looking for something different to the usual dog events, this might do it for you.

Sneaky plug for our own event

The poster for the Christmas Husky Meet

I know this isn’t until next weekend, but of course I can’t have a post about upcoming events without mentioning the Christmas Husky Meet.

The Christmas Husky Meet at Jenkins Reserve, Salisbury. Come check it out on the 4th of December.

Halloween Husky Meet

Sounds like it’s time for another Husky meet. Last time it was Panorama, down South, so this time let’s get it back up North. Try to spread the Husky love a little.

The last meet was huge. Overall I think we got up to about 20 dogs, not including the 7 Labradors that were sharing a birthday party at the same time.

Let’s have another vote. This time it’s all of the good parks out of the 9 in Salisbury.

I know some of you have been to all of these parks, for those that haven’t just rest assured these 5 are all big parks, with lots of room for running and plenty equipped for Huskies.

When: 29th of October (right before Halloween)
Time: 11am till 2pm (or whenever ya’ll choose to leave really :P)
Where: …?

Once again you can vote on two parks. Go here to see the locations of the parks.

Where should we meet for the halloween meet up?

  • Jenkins Reserve, Salisbury (44%, 7 Votes)
  • The Paddocks Reserve, Salisbury (31%, 5 Votes)
  • Bolivar Road, Bolivar (13%, 2 Votes)
  • Dry Creek Linear Park, Mawson Lakes (6%, 1 Votes)
  • Canterbury Reserve, Salisbury Heights (6%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 11

Also you can download the flier, if you’d like to spread it around. Oh, and costumes are entirely optional 😛

Winter celebrations

A grey and white Siberian Husky under an umbrellaIt has been a very strange winter in Adelaide this year, so I think it’s fitting to celebrate that it is finally coming to an end. What better way to do that than with another Husky meet up 🙂

When: August 27th, 2pm

Where: …?

Husky owners in South Australia are spread far and wide, so we’re putting the responsibility of picking a venue back on to YOU.

You can select up to two parks, whichever park has the most votes the weekend before the meet will be the winner.

Go here to see the locations of the parks.

Which park should we meet at?

  • CC Hood Reserve, Panorama (41%, 9 Votes)
  • Jenkins Reserve, Salisbury (27%, 6 Votes)
  • Wright Road Dog Friendly Park, Adelaide Hills (14%, 3 Votes)

Once you have voted make sure to head over to Facebook and RSVP for the event. I shall update the location the weekend before the meet.

The record last time was 17 dogs, even if 2 of them were malamutes 😛 Let’s see if we can do better this time.

Oh and you can download the flier here if you’d like to spread it around.
